After graduating high school in 1998, I ventured over to the west coast of Florida to attend school at the University of Tampa and ended up graduating from the University of South Florida with a degree in Communications (Go Bulls!). After graduating college, I landed a pretty sweet gig working for the Tampa Bay Lightning during their Stanley Cup season. I was able to travel to Montreal to watch them sweep the Canadians in the playoffs and was there when they won the Cup. Not too shabby for a first job! Shortly after that, the NHL was kind enough to grace with a lockout so I moved on to work for the Home Shopping Network (HSN). Though most of my paycheck went right back to them after my regular visits to the employee store, it was a good time and a lot of fun working in TV. However...this Florida girl needed a change of scenery, so in 2007, I packed my bags and headed up to the Big Apple.
NYC was a big change of pace for me, and even though I cursed the city and swore that I was getting on the next plane back to Florida when the snow fell and the temperature dropped into single digits, I toughed it out. I worked for a website called Broadway.com that specialized in promoting Broadway shows, which was right up my alley! I was lucky enough to see some of Broadway's best shows at the time, which was a fantastic perk for me. A few months into living there, my best friend came to visit and it just so happened that another friend of hers was visiting NYC at the same time. He and I hit it off and a year later, I was on a plane back to Tampa and today, I have his last name. I love NY and I will always hold a HUGE place in my heart for that city.
I have a huge passion for all things creative - photography, cooking, writing, crafts, etc. Not a day goes by that I'm not cooking or creating something. I take such pride in creating unique DIY projects for my house, whipping up a new recipe or working on my photography. I also LOVE to organize events. I'm always the first to raise my hand when it comes to planning a birthday party or a baby shower. My goal is to someday turn my creative passions into a career. But for now, it's fun to have on the sidelines.
My husband, Mike, and I were married on April 9, 2011 (which I had SO much fun planning! It was appropriately NYC themed - from our Tiffany blue colors to the "Playbill" wedding programs). In July 2011, we adopted our little Basenji mix, Penny Lane, from the Humane Society of Tampa Bay. In 2012, we took a gamble and moved up to Atlanta from Tampa. We absolutely loved it there and had some wonderful experiences however, once we found out our family would be expanding, we decided to make the move back to Tampa in the spring of 2013 to be closer to our families and our friends. Our son, Brendan, was born in June of 2014, and he's the greatest blessing ever! Mike and I both LOVE to travel and will never pass up the opportunity to go anywhere. I'm very blessed with a great family and some of the most wonderful friends a girl could ask for. I'm very lucky :)
XO,
Brie
