Sorry for being so M.I.A. I was sick last Thursday and Friday and this weekend was crazy! I'm going through about 700 pictures I took of Mike's Gator Club 5K on Sunday, so I'll post some new pics soon. I promise!

I got nothin'

I'm sitting here sniffling and swallowing, hoping whatever I have is just a 24 hour bug and it will leave my system by tomorrow. I had all intentions of taking pictures of this new recipe I tried out last night (since, how often do I post food pics? This, coming from someone who LOVES to eat. Hence the excess spin classes). However, due to a rescheduled haircut and my husband's last minute plans, dinner was rushed and the potatoes I made looked more like a picture that should have been captioned "If your potatoes came out like this, go back to step 1." Hey, at least they tasted good. Anyway...here are some pictures of Penny I took for fun the other night when I was playing around with some new settings. The poor girl hurt her tail (nothing serious) so she's wearing a cone right now (after a last minute run to Pet Supermarket the other night, I discovered the Comfy Cone so at least it's not as bad as the old-school plastic ones). As mean as I sound, it makes me laugh. She looks like a lampshade. Ideas for next Halloween are flowing...

I'm a pro now!

Well, not yet. But I did get to take my photography course this Sunday! It was a long day but very informative. I had purchased a deal through LivingSocial a few months ago before I even got my camera. My dad has a really good Canon so I was going to borrow his before I got my own. It was put on by the Florida Center for Creative Photography. They did a classroom session from 9-3:30 and then we went across the street to the park to take some test shots. I still have a few things to learn but they gave us all a DVD with the info from class so that's a great help to use as a reference. Here are some of the pictures from the park.

How sweet it is!

It's been a looooong week, but it started off nicely with a sweet and simple Valentine's Day. We're not really big Valentine's Day people - we usually don't do gifts and all that hoopla. Our tradition has been Mike making fondue for us and we spend the evening at home together. It's a nice little tradition and I love it!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Since it's Valentine's Day, I thought I'd appropriately post something that's pretty and pink. I bought these flowers over the weekend since I thought they were so bright and pretty! They add such a nice touch to the house. The colors are so vivid that I didn't even need to edit the colors in the pictures - these are actually what they look like. Granted, it's not natural since the water they are in turned hot pink, but that's OK - it just adds more color to the arrangement :)

Vintage Weekend

Looking back on this weekend, I figured that would be an appropriate title. On Friday night, Mike and I went to the old Tampa Theatre to watch "The Artist." I loved it. I thought it was very unique and I love old Hollywood, so this movie was right up my alley. Watching it at the Tampa Theatre was such a unique experience too since it's an old, restored movie house from the 1920s.
On Saturday, my parents came to town and we went to the American Victory Ship. It was built in 1944 and is only one of four fully functioning WWII ships left. It was very cool and they still had a lot of items left from back in the day that they had displayed on board.
